Pesaro is a city rich in history, art and culture.
The birthplace of the great composer Gioacchino Rossini, it is also home of the Teatro Rossini, one of the most important opera houses in Italy.
There are numerous museum institutions in the city, including: the Civic Museums of Palazzo Mosca, the Rossini National Museum and the Oliveriano Archaeological Museum.
On 16 March 2022 Pesaro was proclaimed Italian Capital of Culture 2024.
Pesaro 2024 will be a journey shared with the entire province and the theme chosen is 'The Nature of Culture', designed to express the desire to explore all the interactions between art, nature and technology.
A collective operation to rethink urban space in terms of proximity, identity, sustainable mobility, and to relaunch its cultural heritage through a participatory process starting from an idea of widespread, inclusive culture in dialogue with the environment.
The mobile, unpredictable, industrious and living nature of culture is unravelled in 5 thematic lines, articulated in a programme of 45 projects involving the 50 municipalities of the province, 2 regional parks and a protected area, aiming at the integration between new cultural professions and the local entrepreneurial district, which has always been creative excellence in every sector.
The programme of events for Pesaro Italian Capital of Culture 2024 is vast and diversified. It includes exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances, sports events and family activities.
The aim is to promote the culture and heritage of Pesaro and its province, and to involve audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
